Main FAQ
When does the library open for the day?
For teachers: 7:45 a.m.
For students: At the beginning of the school day.
When does the library close?
Monday through Thursday at around 4:00 although some Thursdays there are meetings that mean I have to close the library.
Friday at 3:45.
What if you don't have a book I want to read? Can you get it?
I can certainly try. Fill in a contact form to let me know what you would like our library to have.
How many books can I check out?
Two at a time.
Do I have to check out two books?
No.
How long can I keep them checked out before they're overdue?
Two Weeks. Two books for up to Two weeks is AISD policy for middle school libraries.
Do I need to tell you I'm turning in books?
No, not usually. Just putting them in the dropbox at the end of the circulation desk is usually all that is necessary.
Will I have to pay overdue charges?
No.
Really?
Yes, really. There are no late fees for overdue books.
But when would I have to pay the library for a book?
If it has been damaged beyond repair (getting it wet is an easy way to ruin a book), or if you have lost it.
If this has happened please come talk to me about it. We can usually work something out.
How often can I come to the library?
If you want to come with your class, talk with your teacher about it.
If you want to come to the library alone, ask your teacher for a Library pass.
Can I eat lunch in the library?
Only with my permission and under certain conditions. Talk to me about it.
Can I come to the library during lunch to use the computers?
Yes. As long as you get a library pass from a teacher, and follow the computer use rules that are posted on the computers.
What are the rules for using the computers?
I hate to use all these "nos", but it can't be helped: No personal email or chatting, no music videos, no games, no music streaming. Treat the computers with respect; they are costly and not easily replaced.
Why can't I play video games on the computers?
The computers are there for use as educational tools. No games are allowed from start of day bell to end of day bell except with express written (if on a pass) permission of your teacher.
Can I buy a pencil in the library?
Yes. You can even buy pens. There are three machines. Pencils cost one quarter, gel pens are three quarters, and there are also new maze pens for three quarters. Usually, I cannot make change. :-/
How do I look up books?
Use the online catalog from any computer.
